Chatting with friends on AOL Instant Messenger, talking to a friend on Yahoo Messenger and stay on an IRC channel at the same time is possible when using Pidgin software.

Pidgin is an email client that allows to chat with MSN, Google Talk, AIM, ICQ and other contacts, from a single interface. Available in several languages, this software offers convenient features to comfortably talk.

Pidgin software brings together in a single window the AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber / XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu- Gadu, IRC, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MXit, MySpaceIM and Zephyr contacts.

The application gives the ability to chat with multiple contacts at once even if they come from different networks discussion. It is even possible to make a conference if necessary.

Even if the icons of contacts for each account are already marked by their respective icons, it does not prevent the user to create customized friends, relatives, colleagues categories, etc.

Pidgin offers several smileys to liven up the discussion. As the software supports adding plugins, user can also download more smileys on the Internet to enrich the library.

Fix an out of bounds memory read in purple_markup_unescape_entity.

Removed the MSN protocol plugin. It has been unusable and dormant for some time. MSNP18 has been discontinued and the protocol plugin would require a large update to start working again. The third-party Pidgin SkypeWeb plugin, however, should provide enough functionality as a replacement if people still want to use MSN:
Removed Mxit protocol plugin. The service was closed at the end of September 2016. See
Removed the MySpaceIM protocol plugin. The service has been defunct for a long time.
Remove the Yahoo! protocol plugin. Yahoo has completely reimplemented their protocol, so this version is no longer operable as of August 5th, 2016: A new protocol plugin has been written to support the new protocol. This also removes support for Yahoo! Japan. According to

Fixed gnutls certificate validation errors that mainly affected google (Dequis)
General:
Replaced instances of d.pidgin.im with developer.pidgin.im and updated the urls to use https.
IRC:
Fixed issue of messages being silently cut off at 500 characters. Large messages are now split into parts and sent one by one.
